Slide schedule Thursday and Friday (DPW districts)
A DPW notice dated Oct. 26, 2026 says trash and leaf collection follow a slide schedule on Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving week, Thanksgiving and the day after. That notice comes from DPW, which serves districts 5, 7, 8 and 11. Lakeshore Recycling Systems, which serves the other districts, had not posted a Thanksgiving notice as of Nov. 6, 2026. Its past holiday notices say routes run a day later after the holiday.
Trash, heavy trash and recycling pickup is delayed one day on observed holidays, called a slide schedule. A holiday that falls on a weekend is not observed. Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are on the observed list.
