No collection Friday; Friday route moves to Saturday
The city page lists no 2026 dates and states the standing rule. Applied to Friday, Dec. 25: no curbside trash or recycling outside the French Quarter and Downtown Development District. In 2025 the city moved Thursday locations to Friday and Friday locations to Saturday, which points to a Saturday, Dec. 26 pickup for Friday locations.
The observed holidays are New Year's Day, Mardi Gras Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Outside the French Quarter and the Downtown Development District, collection is suspended on those days and affected routes shift forward one day.
The rule applies to curbside trash and recycling at eligible properties outside the French Quarter and Downtown Development District. In those two areas solid waste is collected 365 days a year and only recycling is skipped on the holidays.
