Collection slides forward one day
Applying the guide's rule to the Thanksgiving week: collection slides forward one day. The holiday page also lists the day after Thanksgiving as observed but does not say whether that adds a second shift.
The city's 2026 guide says that when a City holiday falls during the week, collection slides forward one day from Monday through Saturday. Observed holidays include Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and the day after Christmas.
The pages do not say whether the shift applies to garbage, recycling and yard waste separately and advise confirming with the city. No 2026 holiday notice was posted when checked.
